چکیده

Transformers are the basic and valuable equipment of electricity network. Transformers correct function has important role in reliability of network .distribution transformers are designed for work at nominal frequency and full sinus current. Application of nonlinear loads in recent decades, such as power electronic loads, caused higher levels of harmonic. This kind of load can lead to creating heat, losses and therefore cause wear of insulation and aging of transformers. To prevent these problems, nominal capacity of transformers that will feed the nonlinear load, should be reduced. In this paper the parameters affecting the loss of a single phase 15 KVA transformers with harmonic loading measurement and will be calculated with standards then The transformers with harmonic loads are simulated in MATLAB software for calculating losses Finally, the obtained results are compared. The reduction of nominal power (Derating) and transformer life and flow rate limits and losses are calculated.

Computation of Transformer Losses under the Effects of Non- Sinusoidal Currents

Transformers are normally designed and built for use at rated frequency and perfect sinusoidal load current. A non-linear load on a transformer leads to harmonic power losses which cause increased operational costs and additional heating in power system components. It leads to higher losses, early fatigue of insulation, premature failure and reduction of the useful life of the transformer. To p...

Reliability Assessment of Distribution Transformers Considering Load Harmonics

The progressive application of non-linear loads in distribution systems (DS) increases current harmonics flow in DS's apparatuses, especially distribution transformers (DTs). Since DTs' operating temperature rises due to the harmonics flow, their loading should be reduced such that the hot spot temperature (HST) is preserved under its permissible value. This means that DTs' available capacity i...

Capacitor Placement in Distorted Distribution Network Subject to Wind and Load Uncertainty

Utilizing capacitor banks is very conventional in distribution network in order for local compensation of reactive power. This will be more important considering uncertainties including wind generation and loads uncertainty. Harmonics and non-linear loads are other challenges in power system which complicates the capacitor placement problem. Thus, uncertainty and network harmonics have been con...

Harmonic Modeling of Inrush Current in Core Type Power Transformers Using Hartley Transform

This paper presents a new method for evaluation and simulation of inrush current in various transformers using operational matrices and Hartley transform. Unlike most of the previous works, time and frequency domain calculations are conducted simultaneously. Mathematical equations are first represented to compute the inrush current based on reiteration and then Hartley transform is used to stud...
